How important is ISO recognition of translation services?

ISO, the International Organization for Standardization has become synonymous of high quality of products and companies across the world boast being accredited by the prestigious agency.
ISO catalogue of international standards has over 23,885 items, including, as we can expect, some that have to do with translation and interpretation quality, foremost of which is ISO 17100, which was introduced in 2015 to provide “requirements for the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service that meets applicable specifications.” Amendments to the standard were introduced in 2017, which suggests that interest in the industry has been on the rise, especially amid fierce competition in the field.
But this ISO should come in a package. Daqeeq.co, for example, maintains best industry practices in all its processes and has achieved ISO 9001, 17100 and 27001. The first is a testimony of excellence in the quality of management, and the third has to do with information security management. All the three standards are vital in the provision of quality translation services online and offline.
According to the organization, ISO 17100:2015 sets the requirements for “the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service that meets applicable specifications.”
ISO has adopted, regarding International Standard 17100:2015, a convention regarding two main concepts: requirements and specifications. The first is about the provisions set by a special committee, specifying the standards and legal regulation, while the latter is specifically concerned with the provisions involving the translation service.
In the related literature, the standardization agency discusses every term related to the translation industry in the pre-production, production and post-production services. In other words, ISO 17100 is an evaluation of the core processes and how they managed, the qualifications for person involved in all processes, resource management and data security.
The value of ISO 17100 – is that it gives customers the reassurance they are looking for. For enterprises like DAQEEQ and other leading providers of translation services, meeting the requirements set by ISO and obtaining the accreditation carries a message of assurance to customers and potential customers, who do not have to worry about the proficiency of the team handling their jobs. The other requirements also put their minds at ease because clients would rest assured that the security of their documents is guaranteed and that the entire management process is handled by professionals and in line with the best international practices.
The two most important elements guaranteed by the standard are accuracy and consistency. In the final outcome, when a translation provider obtains the ISO 17100 certification, this indicates their capability to fulfill industry codes and guidelines of best practices.
